Do you know what is happening inside your website?

A little talent I have picked up over the years of helping businesses is SEO.
SEO is Search Engine Optimization.

It is what makes your website “findable” on the internet.
For those of you who think that launching a new website is the start of your business journey, let me tell you if you don’t do SEO properly, your website just floats out there in webland as a lonely soul.

Here’s some stats to be aware of.

  • There is over one billion websites on the world wide web today.
  • Only 44% of web traffic is from humans; a massive 56% of web traffic is from bots, impersonators, hacking tools, scrapers and spammers.
  • 140,000+ sites are created every day which means in a year over 51 million new sites are created.

Today I wanted to show you something I started seeing on some websites I was working on last year when I looked at their Google analytic accounts.

I had never seen it before and the messages being left on your Google Analytics have been changing as the election became closer.
Sadly now it is obvious that the world has changed and the bots visiting our websites all have messages they want to portray.

Bots have been causing havoc across all online mediums for more than a decade. It causes monetary losses more than we know. They not only influence the way you think; they influence eCommerce portals, airline booking portals, online publications, community forums, and many more.

This explains why social media account owners noticed recently their followers have suddenly dropped off (as they were never real people following you, just election bots).
And also why it is really important to not get hung up on how many people are following & unfollowing your social media business page. It is more important to have interactions with those that do respond to your posts instead because you know they are real people.

Don’t get too hung up about it. Just be aware that your stats to your website can be skewed by these automatic visitors, they have been around for over 10 years but now leave a calling card 🙂
